This marks the first ever appearance of Shea’s online persona, xxGothGrrl666xx, spelled with a pair of two-x’s, though they’re now a pair of triple-x’s. It also establishes her friendship with Lourdes, the main character of the webcomic Mystic Revolution, written and illustrated by my sister-in-arms, Jen Brazas.

Originally I intended for gothgrrl to be a catgirl (I mean, which she still is), but because this page’s art was a bit ambiguous, Jen’s first drawing of gothgrrl was that of a Night Elf. Which, in retrospect, was a pretty cool idea and a very interesting take on her character. Oh, which could’ve been. That said, in the end our designs for “gothgrrl” were different and unique, but that’s fine, seeing as Shea was playing two different games with two different character design features.

Finally, I ultimately never used any of the jokes or art on this page in the main series, mostly because I couldn’t think of a place for them…. but I made plenty of other gothgrrl-related comics and jokes to make up for it.
