APAture!
October 2nd, 2007Yay! Hey, did you find out about Moose River from APAture Saturday? If so, then you’re TOTALLY awesome!!!
For the rest of you… Saturday’s APAture deal was pretty fun. I’m actually starting to enjoy doing smaller shows more than the bigger ones, if only because it seems more like there are more people there who are actually interested in the guys behind the booths. This, versus the larger cons where people just gawk at us. The bonus bit is how I made like… five times the amount I spent to get into APAture, which isn’t bad at all, compared to losing money at the larger Cons. 😀 I feel kinda bad that I really didn’t stick around for the rest of APAture, as in like, I was only there for comics thing and that was it. The whole thing was eleven days and I was there for six hours of it. But then again, LoveFest* was going on and I didn’t want to miss it. I’ll throw some pictures together in due time.
On a totally related note, I updated my 2008 Convention Schedule page. Among other new additions to the list, at APAture I was told about the San Francisco Zine Fest from an apparent friend of my next-door booth neighbor, Melaina Comics. Weird, I’ve never met anyone with the last name “Comics” before. Anyways, the whole thing sounds super awesome: it’s a show for Do-It-Yourselfies like me! I’m gonna scope it out Friday, but I’m already putting down my cash for it next year.
Speaking of ca$h, there’s a good chance I’m probably not gonna make it to the 2008 San Diego Comic Con either. Even though I’m willing to bet that I’ll easily make my cash back, the initial cost of $350 by January is somewhat impossible for me to pull together right now, especially since the man some fucking PIG pulled me over for a speeding ticket for that exact amount a few weeks ago. I’m gonna fight it; if I win, then I probably WILL end up down there next summer. Wish me luck!
(* LoveFest is one of the big reasons why I love San Francisco. Where else in the United States, aside from maybe New York City, where you can go to a massive, multi-stage rave party, complete with naked people on rollerskates and everything else you can imagine, stationed outside of City Hall?)
